%X This investigation focuses on the evaluation of RADARSAT-1 data for geological mapping in the Carajas Mineral Province, Brazilian Amazon region. Visual analysis were carried out based on monoscopic and stero standard mode data (ascending and descending orbits). RADARSAT / Gamma (Total Count)integrated product was also evaluated aiming at more detailed geological mapping in the Serra Pelada area. The results of this research emphasize the importance of using ascending and descending RADARSAT data for tectonical and regional geological mapping in this kind of tropical rainforest environment (mountainous and highly dissected terrain). In addition, the research reinforces the practical importance of using SAR integrated product as a powerful tool for geological mapping in the Amazon Region when airborne geophysical data are available.
